Newport is a birders paradise!

More than 175 species of birds visit Newport on an annual basis

Many migratory species travel along the Lake Michigan shoreline. The park then becomes the ideal resting and nesting spot 

The warbler migration in May should not be missed!

Newport hosts an array of habitats from open meadows, maple-beech forests, hemlock/pine habitat, 11 miles of undeveloped Lake Michigan shoreline and one of the most unique fresh water estuaries- the Mink River.  It's great fun to go birding at Newport!
